An impressive Kimberley Miners Welfare side took Carlton to the wire in a fiesty Semi Final Senior Cup clash at Stoke Lane with the Kimberley manager sent off in the second half after an altercation.

Ben Hutchinson gave Carlton a first half lead from the penalty spot in front of an attendance of 122 on a pleasant evening on what was officially the first day of spring.

Jack Steggles then saved a second half penalty but from the resulting corner , Kimberley scored the equaliser and now had the momentum going into the final third of the game.

Cometh the hour, cometh the man however and that man for Carlton was the impressive Reice Bertram who was presented with the man of the match award by special guest and club legend Grant Brindley at the final whistle, after scoring the winning goal with a flick header.

Brindley is lined up for the Chairmans next big interview on the all new memories series.

For tonight however, Brindley was in attendance to support the team he had so much success at and he spoke exclusively to Carlton Town Tv after the game, a game which was covered by Notts Tv.

Press Officer Dean was on good form interviewing watching Academy Manger Alex Truman, Man of the Match Reice Bertram along with Grant and Dave Hodgson.

All the above interviews will be on Carlton Town Tv in the coming days!

Despite their difficult season, Carlton will be delighted to be in their 5th Cup Final in the last 9 years, the second current manager Wayne Scott has led them to and although Basford United who beat Hucknall Town 4-1 in their Semi Final will be massive favourite’s to win the final, Carlton will take heart from the 2017 final when they beat Basford 4-1 at Meadow Lane and delighted that despite their shocking home form, they got over the line when they needed to.

Massive credit should go to Kimberley Miners welfare who battled valiantly and on another night could have won the tie, but it is Carlton who go through to the Final which will be held at Mansfield Town FC on Tuesday 9th April.
