March 6, 2019

CARLTON TO TAKE ON KIMBERLEY IN CUP SEMI FINAL AT STOKE LANE.

Carlton Town will welcome Kimberley Miners welfare to Stoke Lane, on Wednesday 20th March after the draw was made on Notts Tv for the semi finals of the Notts Senior Cup, the date will be confirmed in the coming days!

Kimberley currently sit 7th in the East Midlands Counties Premier Division, but have a decent away record and if Carlton are to progress to their 5th Final in 9 years, they will need to be on their game.

Carlton reached their first ever final in 2011 before losing to Eastwood Town under Les Mcjannet before beating Sutton United in 2013 when club legend Grant Brindley famously had to go in goal. That was Carltons first ever County Cup Trophy and they retained it in 2014  with Mcjannet still at the helm beating Rainworth Miners Welfare at Hucknall Town.

Basford United won the tournament in 2015 and 2016 before Carlton defeated Basford 4-1 in the 2017 final at Meadow Lane under current manager Wayne Scott.

In the other tie, Hucknall Town will host Basford United who are the current holders once again having regained the trophy in 2018 beating Dunkirk who had previously knocked out the Millers.

The winners of the two semi finals will lock horns at Mansfield Town on Tuesday 9th April in the final.
