HODGSON SECURES PERSIMMON HOMES DONATION FOR ACADEMY

Carlton Town Chairman Mick Garton paid tribute to Carlton Town’s newest Commitee member Dave Hodgson for securing one of the first ever grants in the clubs 115 years history, which enabled the club to this week purchase tables and chairs for the clubs all new Academy classroom which overlooks the pitch and was recently officially opened by Nottingham Forest’s double winning European Cup Captain John McGovern.

Hodgson secured a grant of £1,000 from Persimmon Homes and the Chairman was delighted with the donation and the big part Dave had played in securing it.

“The most frustrating thing with the grant process is that they tend to give money to people with money and clubs such as ourselves with little or no funds get left behind”

” Chuck Fowler used to tell me that if we can raise 50k or someone is rich enough to put 50k into the club, he was confident he could get matching funding of another 50k”

” If we have practically have nothing , we would would get nothing and Dave has come up against the same obstacles”

” Dave is very resilient however and despite getting knocked back by Jewson, he approached Persimmon Homes whom are building homes very close to the ground and the 1k he has secured has helped us furnish the classroom, which was a  NPL requirement”

” I would also like to place on record my thanks to our local Mp Vernon Coaker and Deputy Council leader Michael Payne who supported Dave with his application”

Dave told us “We are delighted with the success of the Academy, we have a dedicated team to guide and support the students through their studies ”

“The Classroom facilities needed to be upgraded, most of the work has been funded by the club and completed by club volunteers”

“We host a lot of fund raising events to cover these costs, but Persimmon Homes donation is a huge boost to our refurbishment plans which were League requirements ”

Neil Follows from Persimmon Homes was equally positive about the donation and told us

“We are delighted to support a club that encourages physical fitness in youngsters and as we are building in Gedling at our Rivendell development, we expect many of our customers will benefit from the clubs facilities ” concluded Follows.
