LEGENDARY CHRISTMAS LUNCHEON CONTINUES TO DELIVER FOR MILLERS!

There was a man called Pete Gibson in the room, it was approximately 17 years ago when “Gibbo” dreamed up the idea of the Carlton Town Christmas Luncheon and so it lives on and produces for the club year after year, both in terms of content and fund raising.

This year it was the turn of Notts County Legends Don Masson, Brian Stubbs and Les Bradd to do the entertaining and they didn’t disappoint and a packed clubhouse listened intently as the three musketeers told their own stories each in their own unique style.

The fundraising side of the function was supported by main sponsors Castle Rock , Msr Newsgroup, Paul Lowe, Local Author “Boatsy “, film director and producer Johnny Owen and Impasto owner Pete Smith who all made donations to help the fund raising throughout the afternoon.

The amount raised throughout the room with outstanding and praise indeed to Greg Last who won the Superdraw and then promptly donated the prize back helping Carlton to raise a further £300.

A 2 course Christmas dinner was served up by Martin Poxon and his excellent team and a decent amount of Ale was consumed throughout the afternoon as Brian Stubbs up the anti with some forthright and entertaining views and Les Bradd told a particularly brilliant story about Brian Clough.

Don Masson had gone on first and left the room to warm applause talking fondly of Jimmy Sirrell and Dave Sexton and remembering what they had helped do for his brilliant career.

Lou Lardi pictures will certainly tell a story of another cracking afternoon when they’re  viewed on our Gallery section of this website and for Pete Gibson, well he left the building with a rye smile on his face knowing the monster he had created was very much alive and well and doing its bit for this community football club.
