SUPPORTERS ENJOY GALLOWS HUMOUR ON MARKSE TRIP DESPITE ANOTHER DEFEAT!

It was a day undoubtedly of gallows humour as Carlton went down 4-0 to Markse in another painful defeat, but with Gresley also losing and Afc Mansfield failing ground grading, Carlton have survived relegation and to live to fight another day at level 4 and next season will once again take on the likes of Ilkeston Town and Worksop Town, both promoted from respective leagues at step 5.
Carlton Commitee man Dave Hodgson met his Marske name sake Dave Hodgson for a pre match beer and he and Chairman Mick Garton made a point of going down on the train rather than the club coach so they could chat with and thank Supporters for their loyalty during another difficult season.
Supporters club Chief Alan Murphy was on fine form throughout the day with the trumpet prominent throughout the game and more significantly on various trains on the way home with various train changes caused by signal failure meaning supporters got home over 2 hours late.
Security on one train didn’t take kindly to the club flag, but Murphy and the crew converted full carriages to support Carlton on the way home, even if only for one night of their lives ?
For the record, the meet up with the Marske supporters was a brilliant initiative and Murphy was delighted to win the darts.
On the pitch, Carlton clearly short of form and confidence were unable to pull off the big victory they needed, but survived courtesy of other results and the failure of Afc Mansfield to secure ground grading, credit also to Jack Steggles (pictured) who made some decent saves or the defeat could have been worse.
The club will have to be thankful, take that and move on from a season which has seen the club reach another cup final but ultimately fail in their league campaign.
Now is a time for the club to take stock and plot a way forward and this website will endeavour to keep Supporters up to date!
