4-0 WIN , NEW PROGRAMME EDITOR AND A BIG GAME TUESDAY !

There is plenty to talk about this weekend at Carlton Town after a successful away trip to the North East.

It’s fair to say the Millers have not had much to shout about from their first two trips to that neck of the woods in the opening weeks of the season, but with Jarred Holmes returning and Shildon struggling themselves a little bit at the moment, Carlton took full advantage.

Although things were finely balanced at 1-0 , the next goal in the game was always going to be crucial and with Carlton constantly pushing forward, they looked favourites to get one and so it proved.

It was substitute Brad Wells with a superb finish who got the second , before OC scored an equally impressive 3rd and the ever improving Kyle Tomlin the 4th after a fine build up, his second of the game.

It certainly made for an enjoyable coach journey home, a three hour trip seems to go much quicker after a victory and a comprehensive one at that.

Carlton took a few supporters on the coach who throughly enjoyed meeting the friendly Shildon supporters who made them very welcome, they are pictured at their pre match watering hole.

In other significant news from Stoke Lane, season ticket holder Joe Standon has taken over as Programme Editor from Josh Hodgson who has been battling against the odds to get the programme produced in recent work due to a change in jobs, which has greatly restricted his free time.

“A massive Thankyou from everyone at the club to Josh who took the programme to a new level last season and a big welcome on board to Joe for this important role” said Chairman Mick Garton.

joe told us “I’m very happy to be the new programme editor, I’ve been wanting to get more involved with the club for a while so it’s great to finally be doing something official to help the club.
As the number of supporters down the Stokeld continues to grow, if any of you would like to be a writer/contributor for the program then do hit me up and I’m sure I can find a space for you
Come on you millers!”

Joe’s first offering will be on Tuesday night for the big local Derby against Grantham Town 7.45pm at Stoke Lane and the club are hoping for a decent turnout for what could be a midweek thriller !

Grantham themselves had an excellent result at the weekend taking the first points of the season off table toppers Stockton Town in a 1-1 draw.

Oh and be sure to buy a programme !
