Home of the Millers

June 11, 2023

Well the William Gunn night and the Michael Dawson nights have come and gone and it’s time to have a little break, but not for long!

On Sunday 26th June, it’s back to Stoke Lane from 2pm when the club hold their annual presentation event to reflect on the 2022-2023 season when the Millers stayed up on the final day of the season. The event starts at 2pm and all supporters are welcome , Dan will be on the decks and food will be served free of charge to everyone attending.

On Saturday 8th July, Carlton start their pre season campaign with a friendly at Basford United 3pm.

On Sunday 9th July, we are holding a Sports day which will be the final fundraiser to clear the £8,000 Energy bill. Kelly is hosting this and work starts on it now! Teams of 6 are invited at £10 per head  (£60 per team) to take part in sporting challenges including Pool, Darts, Cross bar Challenge, Penalty Shoot out, Cricket challenge and much more finishing with a quiz in the Howard Mitchell Sportsbar. Call Kelly on 07788 249236.

On Tuesday 11th July, our former popular keeper Jack Steggles makes a return to Stoke Lane with his sadly relegated Lincoln United team for our first home friendly 7.45pm.  From a purely selfish point of view, the loss of the Lincoln United fixture means even more travelling as Lincoln was pretty close, but no doubt they will pull out all the stops to gain promotion back to step four next season.

On Saturday 15th July, Carlton’s standout pre season friendly takes place with Merthyr Town travelling up to Nottigham from Wales and the opening of the new Carlton stand by Talk Sport presenter Jonny Owen (pictured with co presenter Mark Webster  who it would be nice to see at Carlton Town one day next season) This game will kick off at 3.30pm to allow supporters attending the friendly between Notts County and Forest at Meadow Lane which kicks off at 1pm to attend.

On Tuesday 18th July, we welcome Sherwood Colliery , on Saturday 22nd July, we visit Clifton All Whites and on Saturday 29th July, Shepshed Dynamoes are the visitors to Stoke Lane. Any Sponsorship of any of the home games is very much appreciated , contact Boatsy on 07907 064189.

We can today confirm another fantastic Carlton Town event, The Annual Golf Day at Oakmere Park which will this year be on Friday 28th July. Prices are held once again at £180 for a teamof 4 and includes a Bacon Role on arrival with tea or coffee and a 2 course meal afterwards. Contact Roger Smith on 07836 387009.

The season starts in August and fixtures will follow, but one big event is already planned for September with Legendary Radio Nottingham Nottingham Forest Correspondent Colin Fray the guest speaker on the evening of Friday 22nd September in The Howard Mitchell Sportsbar. Tickets are £30 each and includes pie, chips and gravy, tickets are already selling well so don’t delay as a few did with Michael Dawson and missed out, contact Boatsy on 07907 064189.
