ACADEMY OFF TO A FLYER WITH SOME TOP QUALITY GOALS AT STOKE LANE!

Carlton Town Academy kept to the script in their first home game of the season beating Witton Albion 7-1 at Stoke Lane.

There were some goals of the highest quality including an excellent brace from Reece Thorpe and fine finishes from Peter Grove, Jarred Grice, Kyle Fawcett, Daniel Flint from the penalty spot and a memorable 7th from Tanzeel Arif, Wittons consolation came from Owen Wynne.

The standard of the finishing was something that impressed watching Chairman Mick Garton who was joined by Vice Chairman Barry North and his wife Jackie along with Dave Hodgson and Bob Sharp who all came to support the Academy in their first game.

” The finishing, particularly four of the goals in the second half, were of the highest quality and although we will meet tougher opponents as the season draws on, there were certainly lots of positives and some fine individual displays on the day”  said the Carlton Town Chairman.

“Everyone will be aware of my fondness for Academy football, given I was the first Academy manager at the club and it was a role I thoroughly enjoyed and have some fantastic memories from”

“Alex the manager is doing a great job and it was great to meet the new tutor today and go through the first education module, which was fascinating,  but showed how little I know about the human body”

“Dave Hodgson to be fair was far more in tune, but one thing all of us were in tune with was the football and coming on top of the first teams fine win at Stamford, it has certainly been a good midweek for this football club” concluded a smiling Chairman.

The Academy team posed for a team photo, but the club are still awaiting their new home kit and their official photo call will take place then, when the new kit is delivered and badged up, which will feature new sponsors “Sporting HEARTS” and the club are looking forward to founder and Charity Chief Paul Lowe flying into the country to meet the players and management in the coming weeks.
