BIG JON PARKIN ON FIRE IN FIRST EVENT IN MARQUEE AT STOKE LANE !

Boatsy was one of the first to purchase tickets for the first event in the new marquee he helped pay for and he is pictured with close friend Gav, Millers Chairman Mick Garton and Big Jon Parkin himself.

Massive credit to Martin Ball and Darryl Thomas for organising the event and to Daryl Claypole who spectacularly returned to the Carlton Town stage to host the event.

The big star however was the guest speaker Jon Parkin himself who went down a treat with the Millers faithful which included a mix of players, management, supporters and committe members. The overall age group for those attending the function was a lot younger than usual and they didn’t go home disappointed.

Claypole was on fine form and quickly spotted Pete Townsend in the crowd along with many other celebrities and got the fund raising underway with a new take on heads and tails involving a entertaining 15 minutes in which he put joint manager Tommy Brookbanks on the spot.

Jon Parkin then got underway, ripping into one or two people in the audience for good measure and took everyone through his fascinating career with stories and antidotes galore.

It was an extremely entertaining evening, the first in the new marquee. A big Thankyou  to former captain Steve Garrett who sponsored the heads and tails and to Msr Newsgroup who sponsored the Superdraw.

Former Miller Dominic Thomas won a week in Steve’s Spanish apartment worth over £300 , Dave Hodgson and Rebecca Corry won hospitality at Nottingham Forest with Msr and Peter Wright won hospitality at Trent Bridge for a game in the new 100 competition.

Feedback received following the event has all been positive as the club once again attempts to become self sufficient following the pandemic lockdowns which have had devastating consequences across society, this was one of the good days, hopefully there will be many more to follow at a football club clearly moving in the right direction.
