BRACE FOR BLAKE AND TOP DISPLAY BY THE BACK LINE SEES CARLTON WIN AT HOME !

The win against AFC Mansfield in the Senior Cup last week was definitely a factor in this result said Chairman Mick Garton, as Carlton defeated Lincoln United 3-1 to make it two wins on the bounce at Stoke Lane.

A brace from former Mansfield Town youth star Tyler Blake (pictured) and a fine opening strike from Oliver Clark ensured Carlton moved out of the relegation zone in an enjoyable afternoon at Stoke Lane.

Praise indeed needs to go to the Carlton Town back line with Toby Moore and Edward Clarke having excellent games, ably assisted by the more experienced Kieran Walker and wing backs Niall Davey and Ryan Ebanks.

To single out any player was difficult as this was undoubtedly one of Carlton’s best performance’s of the season and the contribution made by the midfield and strikers and in particular Tyler Blake was at a level today that will please manager Wayne Scott.

Chairman Mick Garton told us “From Jack Steggles right through to Tyler that was certainly one of our better performances this season, the lads got stuck in and at times, put their bodies on the line to defend the 3-1 lead”

“A big thankyou to Mark Benner today for sponsoring the Matchball and I could not disagree with his choice of Toby Moore as our man of the match, he could have given it to any of the defenders, to be fair, Oliver Clark scored a great goal and had a fine game and it was great finishing from Tyler to put us in that situation ”

“We have a really difficult run of games coming up and although this has given us some breathing space, we are under no illusions, we still have much to do to survive at this level, but we will enjoy this weekend, look forward to the Senior Cup Semi Final draw and I do believe that win over AFC Mansfield helped us get this result as we removed a monkey from our back”

The only blip for Carlton was the late red card given to Henry Rollinson for a second yellow card for what the referee determined was time wasting. Many of the Carlton faithful thought that was harsh indeed, but still went home happy given that’s was only Carlton’s second home League win of the season in front of a fan who had flown all the way from Spain to watch the Millers, we are sure the Carlton Town supporters website will cover that fantastic story, his last visit was the away win at Tadcaster, he is a lucky omen indeed!
