CARLTON PROUD OF THEIR COMMUNITY WORK AS 2023 DRAWS TO A CLOSE.

Most stories on this website are around club events, football matches and interviews on Calton Town Tv, but one thing the club are extremely proud of is the work they do in the local community each and every year and 2023 was no exception.

The club finished 2023 by having another hugely significant Foodbank collection for the Netherfield and Colwick Foodbank in December and the Foodbank, former councillor Nicki Brooke’s and the club would like to thank our wonderful family for all the collections throughout 2023, it is certainly something that will continue in 2024 as more and more people are undoubtedly struggling in our local community and homelessness is at record levels.

Avril from the local Foodbank wrote to the Chairman this week.

Hello Mick
Thanking yourself and the Club Membership for the most generous Christmas donation to the Netherfield Food Bank.  We are so grateful – it has helped to replenish the stocks at a time of increased demand.
We thank you all for the Club’s continued support of the Food Bank.
Best wishes from us all.
Avril Rathbone

Apart from the clubs work with the Foodbank, the Millers have helped raise over £5,000 for the Ukrainian community to send back home as they continue to suffer the horrible consequences from the Russian invasion, helped towards the £4,000 raised for the Rainbow Hospice and played their part in nearly £2,800 being raised for Forever Stars.

The Millers also teamed up with the Notts County Supporters Club to host a match between them and Juventus fans back in May which also raised money for a mental health charity and more recently have donated a signed Joe Worrall picture to the Starting Gate pub to help their efforts to raise money for local Charities.

Chairman Mick Garton told us “I think it is important to let people know that apart from the football opportunities provided to youngsters and adults alike at the club, that we take our role in the local community very seriously and realise that the football club can be a vehicle to help good causes whenever we can”

“I think it’s a great day to put that message out as the year draws to a close and on behalf of everyone at the club, I would like to wish the local community a very Happy New Year and rest assured, we will continue to do our bit in 2024, it genuinely is very important to us” concluded the Millers Chairman.

The cover picture is from the Charity game for Rainbow Hospice when our very own Phil Jennings teamed up with none other than Colin Barrett and Charlie Mcparland to help towards raising a brilliant £4,000.
