CARLTON SET TO ANNOUNCE FUND RAISING PROGAMME FOR 2019 AND CHAIRMAN TO KICK ALL OFF BY TURNING BACK THE YEARS!
Carlton Town Commitee members are working hard behind the scenes putting together a fund raising Programme for 2019, vital to enable the club to meet its financial commitments.
The pool Marathon, The Day at Southwell Races, all be in somewhat earlier this year, the golf day, the summer speakers event expected to be Cricket based and The Firework Extravaganza are all expected to feature.
“Cliff Richard as if” is almost certain to return to turn on the 2019 Christmas lights after last years barnstorming night and The Christmas Luncheon will no doubt feature again.
Carlton Chairman Mick Garton, pictured with Cliff however is trying to think a little bit outside the box this year to kick things off and is set to relaunch his DJ career for one night only in the heart of Nottingham City Centre.
The Chairman was on the decks as a youngster and seriously considered making a living out of it, before mistakenly choosing the Newstrade and it believed his last appearance was in 1991.
The Chairman will host an “Evening with Mick Garton and friends” in early March at The Dragon pub on Long Row Nottingham.
Aunit the Landlady of the pub has supported Carlton at a number of functions in recent times and this weekend agreed to the event and to take the risk of allowing Garton and his guest Djs loose on her equipment, good luck with that one !
There will be no charge to get in, but at the end of the evening the club will host a significant prize draw with some cracking prizes and will hope all attending will buy some tickets to support the evening on behalf of the Football club.
Garton will start with his set at about 7pm on a midweek night to be announced in due course and it is believed he will lean towards the 80s with his choice of music.
Garton will invite two guest Djs to join him on the night from within the club and this website understands that Alan Murphy and Josh Hodgson have been approached and are both up for it, providing a date can be agreed.
Hodgson like Garton also used to Dj regularly a few years ago under the name of “Robin Could”. Well Robin most certainly can and he is expected to bring the tunes in his set into the current decade.
The big curve ball in all this is popular Supporters Club Chief Alan Murphy, a real ale lover and a real music connoisseur and his choices which could well be flamboyant and could well divide opinion. One thing is for certain however, he will not go down wondering and there should be something for everyone throughout the evening.
Garton will close the evening after the prizes are drawn and it is understood the Chairman is already working on securing some cracking prizes for those attending and supporting the night.
