CARLTON WIN AGAIN AND GO TOP AS UNBELIEVABLE START TO THE SEASON CONTINUES!

Carlton Town continued their outstanding early season form with yet another league victory, beating Newcastle Town 3-1 at Stoke Lane to make it 6 wins from 7 games and Leek’s 2-1 defeat at Cleethorpes means Carlton are top of the table for the first time since August 2013 when Les Mcjannet was the manager.

Carlton were second best in the first half and Newcastle Town took a deserved lead,  but club legend Martin Ball (pictured) equalised on the stroke of half time against the run of play and in the second half Carlton were a completely different proposition.

Joint managers Tommy Brookbanks and Mark Harvey had been unhappy with the first half display and admitted after the game, it was probably the first time this season that there had been raised voices in the dressing room at half time.

Oliver Clark was introduced at the interval and was excellent in the second half, Arron Opoku came to the party and was nominated man of the match by the Matchball Sponsors, Tyler Blake delivered with a brace and got the Supporters man of the match award.

All in all it was another outstanding performance from the Millers, against a Newcastle side who were extremely impressive in the first half.

Carlton Town Tv will not only have all the highlights from the 3-1 win, but also interviews with Tommy Brookbanks, Aaron Opoku and Carlton player of the month Martin Ball who received his award from the league’s player of the month sponsors after the game courtesy of president Roger Smith and joint manager Mark Harvey.

Another gate of over 100, another win and a cracking atmosphere in the bar afterwards as the Millers players, management, Committee members and Supporters celebrated being top of the league for the first time in six years.

With Basford in the League Cup away on Monday and high flying Sheffield Fc now at home next Saturday, Carlton know things will only get harder from now on in, but for the moment, celebrating an outstanding start to the season seems very appropriate indeed !
