CHAIRMAN DRAWS OUT HIS OWN SIDE FIRST LIVE ON NOTTS TV!

Carlton Town Chairman Mick Garton pulled out his own team first live on Notts Tv tonight as the draw for the Quarterfinals of The Notts Senior Cup was held at their Nottingham City Centre studios.

Garton met with officials from Eastwood Town in the green room prior to the draw before heading for the sofa with Eastwood Town Press Officer Zander and while Garton pulled out the home teams, Zander pulled out the away teams in front of the show’s presenter Owen Shipton.

Garton spoke about the long wait for the club to win the competition, 109 years in total before winning the tournament in 2013, 2014 and 2017.

Basford United have won it in 2015, 2016, 2018 and 2019, but are out of the competition this year after losing 2-1 to Nottingham Forest under 23s.

Teveral Fc will take on Nottingham Forest in the next round and will no doubt be delighted with a potential money spinner with over 400 attending the game v Basford.

The Eastwood contingent were in no doubt that they themselves have a hard draw away at Newark Flowserve.

Garton told us ” I said to their guys off camera, you are not top of your league by accident, so you have a chance, Gedling Miners will be no easy game for us, Clerky their manager text me straight after the draw, they are having a good season, we have total respect for them and Tommy and Mark know they be well up for it ”

“Hopefully with work done with our pitch today, it will be a better a playing surface, but as I said at the weekend , we get no pleasure out of the issues we are facing and on a personal level, I am having to cover these issues myself financially, it was the best part of £300 to move yesterday’s Academy game and the drainage specialists and the vertidrane have all have to be paid for and next week’s Academy game will cost the same again to move”

“I did take exception to some of the criticism at the weekend and keyboard warriors are always welcome to put their hands in their pocket and make a contribution, some people really have no idea, ask those now struggling to keep Worksop Town afloat again with far bigger gates than we get and indeed it wasn’t to long ago that the club I sat with tonight,  beat us in the competition in 2011 and then went Bankrupt effectively, before getting huge grants and reforming under their current banner, the positive for them is they seem to have good people at the helm”

“On a positive note, we look forward to welcoming our friends at Gedling Miners Welfare to the ground for what should be a cracking quarter final and I’m sure I speak for Eastwood as well in thanking Notts Tv for the coverage, it’s something the Nottingham media outlets should take a look at, we are such an important part of local communities, but often feel ignored by our local media unless we’ve have a crisis story “concluded the Millers Chairman.
