CLUB DELIGHTED TO COMFIRM THE REBIRTH OF MILLERS RACE DAY!

Carlton Town Chairman Mick Garton  caught up with Commercial Chief Gary Boatsy Clarke and secretary Trevor Wells at the ground today and while Boatsy and Millers supporter Graham were carrying out some late afternoon voluntary work on the pitch, Wells and Garton were making plans and giving the go ahead for the extra turnstile to be installed this season, one of the requirements if Carlton gain promotion.

Garton and Boatsy had more good news for the Carlton faithful however with the news that the Carlton Race Day is back after a 2 year absence and is this fantastic event has been revived due to the  ongoing support of the club’s friends at Nottingham City Transport.

To secure the tickets to make this event a reality, the club have to find a sponsor and NCT have stepped up to the plate for the Millers once again after talks with the Millers Chairman.

Plans for the event are still being finalised but we can comfirm the following.

The event will be at Southwell Racecourse once again and is on Easter Sunday 17th April and is a family Fun Day.

Tickets on the day on the gate are £22, advanced tickets from Carlton Town are only £12.

The club are making plans for a coach trip to the races with pick ups potentially at West Bridgford, Arnold and Carlton Town Fc with a stop off at the Red Lion at Thurgaton (pictured) for a full English including Tea and Coffee and no doubt the faithful will then be ready for an early pint. The coach will then continue on to the Racecourse for lunch time and pick everyone up after the event and drop off at the 3 drop off points.

The cost for the coach trip there and back , admission to the Racecourse and the Full English at the Red Lion is expected to be £35.

Julian Benton owner of the Red Lion is a friend of the club who donates regularly to club draws and in particular to the Big Christmas Draw every year, so it will be nice to give a bit of support back Chairman Mick Garton told us.

“Julian is top draw and it will be brilliant to stop off at his pub on the way through, we are still putting things together and will only have a limited amount of tickets for the coach with Breakfast and for the day itself, so please ring Boatsy on 07907 064189 to book tickets”

“We will no doubt have tickets available through Msr Shops In Arnold and Angel Row in Nottingham City Centre in due course and indeed through the Red Lion and our own Howard Mitchell Sportsbar, it’s a case of watch this space”

“Finally I would like to thank the Racecourse and Mark Clayton in particular for presenting us with this opportunity and Anthony Carver Smith at Nottingham City Transport who has made this day a reality for us, I hope everyone involved with the club will get behind this event which will bring in much needed revenue for the club as we enter the business end of the season” concluded the Millers Chief.
