DISAPPOINTING START IN THE SWELTERING HEAT AT STOKE LANE!

Carlton Town’s pre season had been a good one, but that never guarantees opening day success and so it proved as the Millers went down 2-0 to Ossett United at Stoke Lane.

There was a general view among many at the ground, that whoever got the first goal would win the game, with the sweltering heat being a factor, the same for both sides yes, but that first goal would be so important in such conditions. Sadly for the Millers it was Ossett who got it before quickly adding a second after a goalmouth scramble went in their favour.

VIP guest Colin Barrett spoke about his experience of getting promoted with Nottingham Forest in 1977 and compared it with his experience as a supporter in 2022 at Wembly, it was a fascinating listen and Colin went down a treat as the afternoon got off to an excellent start.

When you walk into the Howard Mitchell Sportsbar after the game and the chants of Yorkshire, Yorkshire, Yorkshire reign out, it certainly lets you know, it has not been your day.

An attendance of 212 was a positive and the support from Ireland was certainly appreciated and Milke our new representative in the Republic is pictured with Bradd Wells whom he has sponsored this season, Bradd made a point of chatting and thanking Mike and apologised for not getting on the scoresheet.

Carlton are next in action on Wednesday night 17th August 7.45pm at Grimsby Borough.
