DOUBLE HEADER AT THE WEEKEND AFTER EXCELLENT MILLERS WIN!

Carlton Town moved up to 3rd in The Northern Premier League Midlands Division after an excellent win over Sutton Coldfield Town in front of another decent attendance with 141 at Stoke Lane.

The result was 2-0 but it could really have been much more, the Millers hit the post through Arron Opoku and the bar courtesy of a Niall Davey free kick, not to mention near misses and some fine saves from the Sutton keeper and this was all in the first half.

There was more of the same in the second half and with Sutton starting to get on top for the first time in the game midway through the second half, the joint managers made some brave and positive changes.

There was a tension among the Millers faithful that Sutton were going to commit a smash and grab, but the changes help do the trick and goals from Aaron Opoku and substitute Louis Czerwak finally got the Millers over the line.

There is a double for supporters this weekend with the trip to Yaxley on Saturday, with the bus departing at 11.30am from the ground and also picking up from the Shell petrol station at the Bingham roundabout at around 11.45am, the cost is £10 each and Supporters can pay on the bus.

On Sunday, a Carlton Town X11 will take on a combined Veterans team at 1.30pm at Stoke Lane, this is a friendly game ahead of a charity game taking place in 2022 when Carlton will host a game for a charity supported by friend of the club Cass Pennant pictured with Mark Slythe, Boatsy and Chairman Mick Garton at the recent Merthyr Town friendly, it is a charity Cass is passionate about and supports the armed forces veterans, details of the charity game in 2022 will follow in due course.

Admission to the game is free and Jamie will be showing the Nottingham Forest v Cardiff City fixture in the Howard Mitchell Sportsbar, that game live on Sky kicks off at 2.30pm , so get yourselves down to Stoke Lane on Sunday for a rare Sunday treat.
