FANTASTIC ATMOSPHERE AT STOKE LANE BUT NO LUCK FOR MILLERS IN OPENING ENCOUNTER!

FANTASTIC ATMOSPHERE AT STOKE LANE BUT NO LUCK FOR MILLERS IN OPENING ENCOUNTER!

Carlton finished last season with two 4-0 wins at Stoke Lane and lots of positivity has followed and the scene was set for more success for the Millers after a good pre season, but suddenly before kick off, things started to go wrong.

The 12 till 2 Happy Hour proved a massive hit with a decent socially distanced amount of fans in the bar taking advantage of the £2.50 drinks.

The action on the screen brought disappointment for most with Nottingham Forest continuing their wretched form stretching from the end of last season into this season, with 3 defeats on the bounce with no goals scored.

Carlton fans were dealt an early blow with Arron Apoku unfit to play and his replacement Daryl Thomas then pulled up in the warm up and new signing Jordan Smith was given the nod to lead the line alongside Tyler Blake.

By half time, Carlton had lost Captain Tom Maddison to injury and new signing Lawrence Gorman who was clattered into and looks to have a nasty rib injury.

On top of all that Lincoln had taken a deserved lead and were looking an impressive side and Carlton would have to up their game in the second period.

Tommy and Mark got their messages across and the improvement duly followed and Carlton equalised through Tyler Blake (pictured) and should have taken the lead moments later but failed to convert another excellent chance and were punished accordingly and Lincoln led 2-1 after a cracking finish from Jack McMenemy.

Carlton pushed for the equaliser and were caught late on and Lincoln ran out 3-1 winners with Rob Smith rounding a stranded Jack Steggles to increase the afternoon’s pain.

More bad news followed for the Millers with an injury comfirmed for Tyler Blake, it was not a good day on the pitch!

In fairness, credit should be given to Lincoln who were impressive on the day and to the fantastic turnout which saw 190 spectators attend the afternoon, following the 176 who attended the Fa Cup clash with Loughborough University.

There was praise for the new look Matchday Programme, so massive credit to Ben Chambers and the new contributors along with the Happy hour and the guest ale from Castle Rock which went down a treat.

A full report on money raised and winners from the third kit Superdraw will follow in the next 24 hours but we will hopefully have the information out on our social media platforms earlier, so keep your eyes pinned and Thankyou for your support!
