FANTASTIC WIN AT STOCKTON KEEPS MILLERS IN THE PLAYOFF MIX.

Carlton Town pulled off a fantastic Easter Saturday result in the Northern Premier East League beating run away leaders Stockton Town in front of 1,007 spectators at Stockton, their biggest gate of the campaign.

The majority of those home supporters would have come expecting another three points, bearing in mind Stockton had not lost a single home game this season, but the Millers have an fine away record themselves and last week beat high flying Dunston in the North East.

This 2-0 win courtesy of goals from Alex Howes (pictured) and Dean Freeman means the Millers have now beaten 3 of the current top 5 away from home.

Carlton remain 8th on 50 points, 4 points outside the playoff zone, but with two games in hand on 5th place Pontefract Collieries.

The focus now moves to Stoke Lane on Monday when Grantham Town are the visitors for the big bank holiday local Derby. John Gorman our supporter and fantastic friend from Trent Bridge has been down working on the pitch on both Saturday and Sunday morning and said it has firmed up following yesterdays round the clock sunshine and is most definitely playable as we go to press.

The firm advice from John and Trent Bridge head groundsman Steve Birks is that with some over night rain highly likely, we need to get volunteers to join our own groundsman Kris at the Bill Stokeld at 9.30am to make sure all the good work over the bank holiday weekend does not go to waste.

That good work has come from the players and coaching staff at Stockton and all who have been working at the ground over the bank holiday,

The club would once again appreciate any help that any of you can give and the game itself promises to be a fascinating one, Grantham are fighting to stop at step 4 and had an excellent 3-2 win over Ossett United on Saturday, while the Millers will be looking to continue their push for a playoff place. The kick off on Monday at Stoke Lane is at 3pm.

Post Match reaction from the marvellous win at Stockton comes from Assistant Manager Andy Clerk.
