FIREWORK ATTENDANCE DOWN BUT STILL A GREAT NIGHT AT STOKE LANE!
The threat of torrential rain meant numbers at Stoke Lanes Firework Extravaganza were down on last year with the attendance close to 300 , while last year, around 500 attended.
The rain for the most part held off, despite the dire forecast and the 300 that did attend enjoyed a cracking evening with another outstanding display from Big Bang.
Carlton Chairman Mick Garton was in attendance and took responsibility for running the event from start to finish and he was boosted by the attendance of Vice Chairman Barry North and his family and a number of first team and Academy players who supported the event.
Player Coach Martin Ball made sure it was Pepsi’s all round with the knowledge that the player (weather permitting) have quite a big game to play.
The Vortex Tunnel as expected went down an absolute treat once again, along with the beat the keeper challenge and huge credit to Harford who came all the way from Northern Ireland for the event, a top guy indeed!
Doughnuts, fudge, chocolate, Trampoline Bungie jump, hook a duck, tombola, the best Clive Lancaster Sausages and Burgers were among the evening’s attractions and the raffle also went down well with the crowd.
Carlton Town’s midfield general Oliver Clark drew the raffle and the Winning ticket was number 904 and Steve Scott was delighted to win the prize which was hospitality for two at a game at Nottingham Forest in the new year.
Other winning numbers were 752, 821, 801 and 979.
After the Fireworks, the crowd steadily drifted away although a fair number stayed in the bar to enjoy the alcohol offering’s.
A fantastic night once again with the only disappointment, the weather and subsequent drop in numbers, but those that did attend were full of positivity and as someone commented as the Chairman left the building, ” you would take that every day of the week if it was your matchday attendance”, never a truer word has been spoken!
Carlton Town thanks all the stall holders for their kind donations and everyone, that either sold or purchased tickets for the big night!
