FIRST DRAW OF THE SEASON FOR THE MILLERS AT STOCKSBRIDGE

Carlton Town did something rare on Saturday afternoon, they took a point from their visit to Stocksbridge Park Steels.

You can go all the way back to 2009 when when a certain young Jamie Vardy broke Millers hearts with a superb all round display, including a stunning free kick to help inflict a 5-2 defeat upon the Millers in the semi final of the playoffs.

The Millers have not won here since that day, usually losing Alan Murphy reminded us during the game, so a draw was most welcome this afternoon given those statistics.

It was a poor game in all honesty, which in fairness Stocksbridge shaded and Nykah Liburd-Hines in the Millers goal was the busier of the two keepers and can be delighted with his clean sheet, although a Brillant save from the Stockbridge keeper kept out a fine effort from lively new signing Micah Jebbison who came off the bench.

Jebbison was later Sent off after receiving two yellow cards during his time on the pitch and both benches were left frustrated at the number of cards shown in a game where it was difficult to remember a bad tackle.

Mark Harvey spoke to Carlton Town Tv after the game and said he could not believe how many yellow cards are being dished out for fouls, it was certainly a view shared by supporters of both clubs in the bar afterwards.

Carlton drop to 7th in the table after the 0-0 draw, but are just 2 points off second place with a number of teams sandwiched together chasing Stockton who are comfortably ahead of the chasing pack at the top.

Carlton are at home on Tuesday night 30th January when Liversage are the visitors to Stoke Lane 7.45pm.

Mark Harvey’s interview with Alan Murphy can be seen below.
