FUND RAISING CRUSADE CONTINUES WITH APRIL POOL MARATHON AS CHAIRMAN DELIVERS A REALITY CHECK.

FUND RAISING CRUSADE CONTINUES WITH APRIL POOL MARATHON AS CHAIRMAN DELIVERS A REALITY CHECK.

With Carlton continuing to struggle to compete financially in Evostick Division One East, the Millers Chairman will once again bring his pool cue out and team up with Tom Nightingale on Friday April 12th at the Clubhouse, while Gaz Bee and Roger Galbraith will defend their trophy with new comers Dean Wykes and Will Robinson also pitting their skills against the veterans.

Garton and Nightingale have taken the trophy twice in 2016 and 2017 with Bee and Galbraith triumphant in 2018, so one wonders what will 2019 bring and how much the guys will raise t0 help the football club.

Chairman Mick Garton has openly admitted the club are struggling to compete at the level they are at, with him being unable to commit the kind of funds he has done over the last 18 years.

“One of the reasons we are struggling is the financial restraints our manager is working under, with the lowest gates out of all 62 clubs in our 3 divisions in the NPL and I honestly am not earning the kind of money I was a few years ago, the news trade i am in is a poisined chalice these days, believe me”

” In the past, i have managed to supplement the restricted income in order for us to remain competitive with the help of others, but the sad death of Paul Shelton not only took away a great football man, but also somebody who contributed massively to our finances”

“A number of people have contacted me or spoken to me or others on the committee in recent weeks on the back of our struggles and put their names forward as potential new managers who could bring in a whole batch of new players, but the fact is our manager does not get paid and works with one of the lowest budgets in the league, the reality at this club is somewhat different to what some people may imagine ”

” That is why I did a Dg set the other week and will do another one in May, that’s why I will take another day off work on Friday 12th April having organised another Pool Marathon to bring money in for this football club to pay it’s bills including repairs this week to the 3G pitch Arena and Wally has made me aware of other areas which will require expenditure going forward once again”

” I know this is not what supporters want to hear with us fighting relegation and going into a cup final where we are massive underdogs, but it is the reality of where we are at”

” I will throw my heart and soul into the Pool Marathon next week and do my very best to raise as much as I can with the help of some brilliant colleagues and I would ask as many people as possible to come down and support us as we attempt to raise another 1k for the football club” concluded the Chairman.
