GOALS GALORE IN FIRST TEAM AND ACADEMY GAMES WITH MIXED EMOTIONS!

Carlton Town and Carlton Towns Academy team both conceded 4 goals in their respective midweek games away from Stoke Lane, but while the first team were able to respond with only two goals, the Academy hit seven to move up to third in the table, while the first team dropped even deeper into relegation trouble

Mixed fortunes indeed and the worry for first team manager Wayne Scott (pictured at a recent club fund raiser) is the number of goals now being conceded with 14 hitting the back of Carlton’s net in their last 3 league games.

By all accounts, there were lots of positives in the Carlton Town performance at Sheffield Fc, despite their second 4-2 defeat inside 3 days and they could easily have scored 7 themselves, but the reality is they didn’t and Sheffield showed with their finishing why they are in the mix for a promotion place.

Saturday see’s top of the table Morpeth visit Stoke Lane, so it’s certainly not going to get any easier for Wayne Scott’s young side and a team that have not suffered a relegation in decades are now in real danger of going down.

It is of course a reality of football that at some stage, this pretty much happens to every club unless the club is financially Fire proof and Carlton certainly are not, but if it happens, it will still certainly hurt but while there are games to go, there is still hope and in recent seasons were things have looked difficult, the Millers have pulled through, this however looks like their biggest challenge yet and one that could go right down to the wire !
