GOOD FIRST WORKOUT FOR MILLERS AT RAINWORTH!

Goals from an impressive young trialist and Tyler Blake saw the new regime of Tommy Brookbanks and Mark Harvey get off to a winning start after going a goal behind at Rainworth Miners Welfare.
A crowd of 102, a decent number of them from Carlton came to see the new look squad which was a mix of old, new and Academy players and despite being only two weeks into pre season, there was plenty to be positive about for the new management duo.
Academy Manager Alex Trukan joined Brookbanks and Harvey in the dugout and the lads played some nice passing and possession football but lacked a cutting edge at times and the right final ball, particularly in the first half.
Adam Harris gave Rainworth the lead on the stroke of half time, before Carlton equalised early in the second half with a great strike from a free kick, but not before two excellent saves from Jack Steggles.
Carlton played some nice football in the second half with Danny Elliot at the heart of much of it and it was his link up with the also impressive Niall Davey that led to Tyler Blake striking the winner late on.
Chairman Mick Garton we understand, sold 5 season tickets in the last two days as the club continues to move in the right direction and although it pales into insignificance with the amount a club such as Ilkeston will no doubt sell, the club are grateful for every sale!
Carlton now embark on a massive week, at home to a Notts County team on Tuesday, at home again to Hucknall Town next Saturday followed by a race event and then a massive event at the ground next Sunday 14th July when the club host “Taken too soon” which includes a pivotal football match with Nottinghamshire Police taking on Celebrities and featuring Nottinghams got talent, not to mention lots of stalls, Fairground rides and fun for all the family from 10am.
