GREAT ESCAPE COMFIRMED, NOW ATTENTION TURNS TO THE CUP FINAL.

Carlton Town finally got the news they had been waiting for just after 6pm on Wednesday Evening when their status of safety at step 4 was confirmed by the Football Association.

With 10 games to go, Carlton looked dead and buried and although they still believed they could keep The Millers up, Tommy and Mark did say they were prepared to step aside quietly if the board thought they could bring someone in who could change the club fortunes.

The club declined the offer and the rest is history, 6 wins and one crucial draw at Pontefract from the 10 remaining games and Carlton have survived. Yes it would have gone to a playoff game had North Shields not failed ground grading and their fans were brilliant when they came to Stoke Lane, but Carlton are safe and retain their step 4 status.

In a way, staving off relegation at the death does not reflect a successful season, but from where Carlton were after the North Shields home defeat and Tommy’s dramatic post match interview, it certainly feeels like one and the added bonus of being able to defend their Nottinghamshire Senior Cup Trophy in the Final next week certainly backs up that feeling.

Carlton beat Mansfield Town in a dramatic night at the One Call Stadium on penalties in a game they were firmly expected to lose and massive credit also to Newark and Sherwood Fc who knocked out Nottingham Forest in their Semi Final.

This was our the fans and players reacted straight after Saturdays crucial 2-0 win .

The Final next Tuesday 2nd May was scheduled for Meadow Lane, but due to to the Magpies involvement in the National League Playoffs, the Final has been moved to Eastwood Town 7.45pm.

Admission is £10 Adults and £5 Children on the gate.
