INCREDIBLE AFTERNOON AT THE DRAGON AND ROCKLEY NAMED NEW FIRST TEAM COACH.

The mad activity at Carlton Town shows no signs of abating as supporters, players and Commitee members packed the Dragon pub in Nottingham City Centre to welcome Tommy Brookbanks back to the club.
This website understands the event raised over £1,700 for the club but Chairman Mick Garton is still receiving donations and that figure could well climb in the coming days.
Garton will make an announcement in the next few days but the target of £1,500 has been reached to enable urgent pitch repairs and maintenance to go ahead following the final game of the season on the pitch this Thursday when Castle Rock will be hosting a North v South Brewery event at 4pm.
Ironically the Castle Rock Brewery Tour prize in the day’s big raffle was won by Mandy Hodgson and along with Estelle, she plans to take 12 excitable women on the tour, good luck with that one Castle Rock.
Any surplus from the event will go to other urgent electrical repairs which need doing before the new season.
Brookbanks and his beautiful wife Tina stayed throughout the event and Brookbanks made a rousing speech to the packed venue.
His latest move is to appoint Paul Rockley as first team coach, Rockley was introduced to Millers Chairman Mick Garton by Brookbanks and Harvey a few days earlier and the Chairman is understood to be very impressed by the young but well qualified coach.
Brookbanks told us “Myself and Mark regard Paul as a fine up and coming coach who will work really well with the player coach we are set to announce tomorrow”
“He’s highly qualified but more importantly works very well with a group and he has the same ideas as us of how the game should be played”
“He did excellent for us at Coalville where he caught our eye and we are delighted to have him on board” said the new joint manager.
Rockley has been exclusively interviewed by Carlton Town Tv and is his interview is now available on our you tube channel, Jack Steggles interview is also up there and he speaks about his desire to play for Tommy and Mark and to embrace their different style of football which he told Dean Wykes were his reasons for staying at the club and signing a new contract.
Brookbanks meanwhile got a warm welcome at the Dragon as did Aaron Opoku who won the goal of the season award (and what a vital goal it was) from the supporters club and Riece Bertram who deservedly won Supporters Player of the year.
Murphy who presented the awards and was a guest Dj was as ever on fine form as were all the Dj’s including the excellent Soul and Motown man Gary Hitchcock.
Murphy, Hodgson and Garton are shown pictured at the February event which raised £1,060.
Josh Hodgson started proceedings and Chairman Mick Garton finished them but he accepts he needs to bring his reading glasses next time, there were a couple of records introduced at the wrong speed, then again it has been over 20 years.
The raffle was drawn with Gaz Bee swinging into action and Mick and Gaz then proceeded to spent over 20 minutes trying to give away the Bungie Jump, Sarah Tong from the under 16s finally claimed it.
Special mention for the mad woman who smashed a drink over and tipped up a stool, Tommy Brookbanks is back and he is already attracting characters where ever he lays his hat, welcome back Tommy!
