IT WAS A BUSY WEEKEND AT STOKE LANE COMFIRMS CHAIRMAN !

We may still be in lock down to a certain extent, but despite supporters being unable to attend Carlton’s latest friendly against Harrowby United, there was still plenty going on at Stoke Lane.

For the record , Carlton were second best in the first half , but dominated the second half and won their third pre season game on the bounce.

Harrowby impressed and provided good opposition for the Millers with Oliver Clark scoring the only goal in the 1-0 win.

Chairman Mick Garton spoke to us and comfirmed the news breaking earlier that Dan Brown (pictured with delighted joint manager Mark Harvey) had signed a contract for the forthcoming season.

“Tommy and Mark spoke to me back in March and said how impressed they had been with Dan and asked if my opinion was the same, which it was, we spoke about a contract then and I indicated that myself and the club were minded to support that , then came the bombshell announcement by Boris Johnson and pretty much everything was put on hold”

“We now slowly seem to be crawling out of this nightmare, so I was happy to give this the go ahead, he’s a cracking lad whom I personally have a lot of time for and we hope he can continue with his progress going forward” concluded Garton.

“This website also understands that Carlton will now be hosting Staveley Mwfc on Saturday 5th September at Stoke Lane, this is breaking news and further details will follow and it will hopefully be the first friendly spectators can attend.

An announcement will also follow this week with details of the presentation of last season’s trophys next Saturday 15th August, something Supporters will be able to attend in line with Covid 19 restrictions and the club very much want them to be part of it.

Finally work is on going on a number of projects at the ground including the new five a side grass pitch and again this website understands, Dave Hodgson will give a full update next Saturday.

Carlton are next in action at Hucknall Town this coming Wednesday 12th August at Hucknall Town, again sadly behind closed doors.
