IT’S MANSFIELD ON TUESDAY BUT THE CUP HOLDERS ARE UNDERDOGS THIS TIME ROUND!

Despite their difficult league season , the Millers have had a decent run in the Notts Senior Cup getting to yet another Semi Final.

Carlton did not win the trophy until 2013 despite being formed originally as Sneinton in 1904, but have now gone onto win it 4 times, the last time being last season, they have reached the final 6 times in the last 11 years.

Since Tommy and Mark took over in the 2019/2020 season, they have not lost a single fixture in the competition. In 2020, a big semi Final against Newark Flowserve was eagerly anticipated at Stoke Lane before covid struck and the season was curtailed. There was no competition in 2020/2021 again due to covid and in the 2021/2022 season , Carlton won it beating Nottingham Forest Under 23s in a dramatic Semi Final at Stoke Lane and Mansfield Town Under 23s in the Final at Basford United.

This season however, Carlton are big underdogs, Mansfield are on fire, putting out a strong side and beating Notts County 6-1 in the quarter Finals and indications are a number of first team players are set to be involved this time round with the Stags desperate to avenge last years final defeat, while Carlton are in a relegation battle and short of confidence after a difficult run of results and Tommy and Mark will be hoping they can conjure up one more outstanding result  in the competition to get the Millers to another final at a ground they have never won at.

No pressure there then, for the management duo who will go into the game positive, because it’s embedded in their DNA and who led the Millers on that memorable run last season and that cracking final win at Basford.

Admission at The One Call Staduim is £3 Adults and £1 concessions and under 16s through the Sandys Bar.
