LAST MINUTE AGONY FOR MILLERS AT NUNEATON BOROUGH IN THE FA TROPHY.

Nuneaton Borough got their revenge in the Fa Trophy after the Millers had knocked them out of the Fa Cup only a few weeks ago.

It was a painful defeat for the Millers with Nuneaton’s winner coming in the 90th minute through experienced substitute Matthew Stenson with a fine turn and finish.

It was harsh indeed on the Millers and in particular on outstanding goalkeeper Felix who had made several fine saves.

Despite the fine saves by Felix, don’t think for a minute Carlton could not have won this game, Nangle had two decent efforts in the first half, the Millers failed to capitalise on two good free kick options just outside the box and after Alex Howes had hit the bar in the second half following a fine run, Carlton thought they had the lead when Alex Hardwick headed home.

The flag was up however, much to the dismay of Hardwick who genuinely believed he was on side as Mark Harvey told us when he spoke to Carlton Town Tv after the final whistle.

It was Nuneaton’s day however and in fairness, they hit the bar to and credit to them for their victory, but massive credit again to the Millers who once again gave a step three side a good run for their money, battling till the finish whistle.

The Millers will now focus on catching up with their league fixtures after falling behind due to their cup exploits, They currently sit 11th, but do have game in games in hand and will be hoping to push back up into the playoff zone in the coming weeks.

Carlton are away, yet again next week in the league to Ossett United on Saturday 14th October, before a big midweek local Derby against top of the table Belper Town on Tuesday 17th October at Stoke Lane.
