Lions Finish 2019 Impressively With A 5-0 Home Win
The Under 18s put in a very strong performance in a difficult game against East Leake to continue their fantastic start to the season.
Following a downpour on Saturday night, the game got the go-ahead after a morning pitch inspection. The pitch was playable, but both teams had a tricky surface to negotiate.
Carlton made a strong start to the game, with Dan Flint scoring the opening goal within the first 15 minutes. He grabbed his second on the half-hour mark with a fantastic 20 yard, left-footed strike that flew into the roof of the net. The team’s performance levels didn’t drop off and it was thoroughly deserved when the third goal came just before the break. Dan Flint scored his third of the half, securing his second hat-trick in as many weeks.
The team started the second half very confidently, continuing to dominate the ball, create chances and defend well. Ethan Turnbull got the fourth goal of the game, before Joel Daft completed the scoring to wrap up a convincing victory.
The level of the performance was really impressive, especially considering the difficult conditions both teams had to contend with. The team managed to keep a clean sheet, which was very pleasing and well deserved given the outstanding performances on the day.
The result continues the Lions’ excellent start to the season, getting 8 wins from 8 in the league, as well as progressing into the last 16 of the cup. It has been a fantastic start to the season and it’s a great foundation for a real push for success in 2020.
