MAD WEEKEND OF FOOTBALL ENDS WITH AN EMPHATIC 3-0 WIN AT GRIMSBY.

Carlton Town ended a mad weekend of football with an outstanding 3-0 win at Grimsby Borough on Bank Holiday Monday.

Saturday had seen the Millers lose their first game of the season, going down 2-1 to North Ferriby in a match that could have gone either way. Sunday was Charity day at Stoke Lane and the club threw themselves into helping Paul Mcgregor, Andy Wilson and many more fantastic volunteers raise 4K for the Rainbow Hospice and on Monday it was an away trip for the Millers to Grimsby Borough.

It was a new ground ticked off for the Millers Chairman and Dave Hodgson and Carlton Town Tv Media Correspondent Josh Hodgson was on duty too to capture interviews with Andy Clerk and Shea Thompson-Harris and it’s fair to say Josh was on fine form.

The fine form that really mattered however was that on the pitch and Carlton played some cracking football forcing a succession of corners in a one sided first half and scoring three superb goals.

David Adegbola crashed a home a loose ball in the box to get the scoring underway before wonderful moves brought the Millers two more finished by Lamin Manneh and Alex Howes. The only surprise at that stage was that Carlton didn’t add more in the second half.

Credit should go to a much improved performance from Grimsby in the second half as Carlton got pushed deeper and Felix was called on to make a couple of fine saves, to go with his brilliant one in the first half.

The reality was that Carlton had got the job done in the first half and although their energy levels were exceptional again in the second half, the damage to Grimsby had already been done.

Carlton move up to third in the Division, level on points with Derbyshire neighbours Belper Town and three points behind league leaders Hebburn Fc who have won a superb five out of five.

A few days rest now for the Millers before training on Thursday and a massive Fa Cup game on Saturday when Carlton visit the highly respected Nuneaton Borough from step three.

Meanwhile enjoy the picture of Tommy and Mark at Grimsby and Josh, Clerky and Shea doing Carlton Town Tv proud 😃⚽️
