MARQUEE UP, ALL SYSTEMS GO FOR SUNDAY AND MORRISONS AND OAKFIELD STEP UP TO THE PLATE!

Several local companies have stepped up to the plate this week for World Game Changers and Carlton Town Fc, so it’s time to say a big Thankyou to in particular Mark at Oakfield Construction along with Empire scaffolding, Msr Newsgroup, Marstons Brewery and Morrisons who have all done their bit this week to hopefully help make this coming Sunday a big success. The support of these companies is on top of the support provided by existing sponsors mentioned in the programme and on the posters and flyers distributed.

Work at the ground, prize donations and in Morrisons case whom the club uses regularly, a donation of cobs etc once they became aware of why the club was buying so many.

It has been a real team effort this week, with volunteers at the club, Team Boatsy and lots of people coming together to put everything in place, none more so than the building of the Marquee which came from Holland, got sent to Hull , then went back to Holland before finally arriving at Stoke Lane after Boatsy visited the company involved in Hull. That may sound sinister, it certainly wasn’t, but its fair to say that if he hadn’t driven down to Hull with the permission of his boss, there would definitely be no marquee now and probably a court case. It’s a long story that Chairman Mick Garton and Boatsy have no doubt shared with friends and family, but far too long winded to go into detail on here.

But yes, the marquee is up, the weather forecast is awesome and Dj Sanj Beri is ready to go from 1pm when the gates open, with admission by a donation on the gate. This event gives the club the chance to start standing on their own two feet again, something they have always been proud to do.

On Thursday night, they made their pitch available for an excellent local charity, The AC  Wollaton Charity football team and this website understands that close on £1,200 was raised for the charity with ex Carlton star Terry Hawkridge among the players playing and supporting the event.

The club is proud of the role it plays in the local community and is looking forward to seeing you all on Sunday for what promises to be an historic afternoon with the match kicking off at 3pm.
