MICHAEL DAWSON AND PUNJABI FOREST BRING CHEER TO STOKE LANE!

Former Nottingham Forest Captain Michael Dawson revealed to Carlton Town that his Speakers event at the club was his first ever in Nottingham and perhaps helped explain why the Millers sold this event out in a week.

Carlton were honoured to have him and he proved a massive hit, getting a fantastic ovation from a mix of Carlton Town and Nottingham Forest supporters in the Howard Mitchell Sportsbar.

Dawson showed the Chairman a picture of when he and his brothers first joined the club and were met by the legendary Brian Clough. Dawson went  on some years later to make his debut under Paul Hart playing alongside another club legend in Des Walker.

Playoff heartbreak, the move to Tottenham, League cup Glory with them, one or two England caps and then the move to Hull City where he suffered relegation before helping the team to playoff glory a year later were all covered in his hour long chat with the Chairman.

Dawson finally came home but the Reds missed out on the playoffs following the devastating meltdown at the end of the covid season, playing without fans he certainly didn’t enjoy !

Dawson talked about the managers he played under, the players he had played with, his enjoyment at now working for Sky Sports and his huge admiration for the Forest fans and the atmosphere they have created at the City Ground this season.

He believed the fans help keep Steve Cooper in his job during the difficult moments last season and did not hide his huge admiration for the brilliant Nottingham Forest Manager.

He singed numerous autographs, posed for many pictures and was a pleasure to work with Chairman Mick Garton told us.

Apart from the money raised from Heads and Tails, Trust me, The £10 Superdraw and auction, the club received another boost to their £8.000 energy Bill with Punjabi Forest donating £500 towards paying it off, a massive thankyou to them and in particular DJ San Beri for putting the club forward for a donation.

The club would like to thank Castle Rovk for sponsoring the event, their support once again is very much appreciated.

The next Speakers event is on Friday 22nd September when BBC Radio Nottingham’s Nottingham Forest correspondent Colin Fray is the club’s very special guest. Tickets are £30 each and includes Cottage Pie, chips and Gravy , contact Boatsy on 07907 064189 to book your place.
