MILLERS INVITED TO IMPORTANT MOMENT IN MERTHYR TOWN’S HISTORY!

Carlton Town fans have been invited to get the ground early for the Merthyr Town Fc v Carlton Town Fc friendly on Saturday 9th July for an important moment in their history.

A number of Carlton Town fans are travelling down for the game, the reverse fixture from last summer when Merthyr visited Nottingham and a special invitation has been sent to our club to attend a 1pm date.

During the last year we have been developing the area behind the Theatre End, which was overgrown and generally untidy, to create a space for wildlife, nature and reflection. With groundwork completed by Griffiths Construction, a nature package from Keep Wales Tidy and manual help from the Gurnos Men’s Project and local Probation Service, we have a pond garden, woodland walk and orchard area which really has brought the old Theatre End bank back to life.

We would like to invite you to the official opening which will take place on Saturday 9th July at 1pm, where a short ceremony will take place. Our local MP Gerald Jones and MS Dawn Bowden will cut the ribbon and there will be music from the Dowlais Male Choir.

As well as a wellbeing space, the garden was designed in a way where those supporters who had passed away could be remembered, so if you would like a loved one’s name mentioned during the ceremony please let us know.

So far memorial benches have been donated in memory of long-standing supporters and more are welcomed. We have also transferred the scattered ashes/ memorial plaques/ plants from the garden that was created in the car park, to a more respectful location.

Carlton Town are travelling down by coach and stopping overnight , more details will soon be available for any supporters wishing to travel on the coach .
