MILLERS FOCUS TURNS TO OSSETT GAME FOLLOWING CLEETHORPES FIASCO!

Carlton Town will turn their attention to this coming Saturday afternoon being left angry and frustrated by Saturday’s postponement around an hour before kick off after travelling down to Cleethorpes on Saturday.

The Millers understood from information received that the pitch was playable and no inspection was required when they left Nottingham on the coach and despite no rainfall on Saturday morning, the pitch was deemed unplayable by the match referee when he arrived at Cleethorpes prior to the kick off.

This website understands that Tommy Brookbanks agreed the pitch was unplayable and the Millers were surprised there was no earlier inspection to avoid all the travelling for players, management and supporters on the day.

Some supporters had actually booked into hotels for the Saturday evening once they heard the game was on and were left frustrated by the late decision, although we are sure they will have attempted to make the most of a bad situation with a few drinks throughout the afternoon and evening.

The Millers have tried to put a positive face on being moved into the Northern Premier East League this season after much negativity last season following losing their appeal, but on days like Saturday ,it does leave people scratching their heads !

The players ended up doing some light training on the sea front before heading back to Nottingham and the club will now focus on Saturday’s visit of Ossett United and Boatsy is looking for sponsors for Saturday’s game, for the Matchball or Programme at just £60 for 3 people and can be contacted on 07907 064189.
Nottinghamshire County Cricket club will make their weather radar report available to the Millers at the back end of this week and it may be a case of asking for volunteers again Saturday morning, we will see, watch this space !
