MILLERS UP TO SIXTH AFTER HYLTON WONDER GOAL SECURES WIN OVER CLEETHORPES AT STOKE LANE

If there was ever a strike that deserved to win a game, well this was one of them, what a finish from Niall Hylton with the game in the balance at 0-0 in the second half of a tight but entertaining encounter with Cleethorpes Town at Stoke Lane.

Dave Hodgson was the one of the first to congratulate Niall on his superb winning goal and is pictured with him after the game.

The first surprise of the day was when the pitch passed a lunchtime inspection after heavy rain and snow over the last two or three days, but it was definitely the correct decision with the pitch holding up well throughout the game.

Both keepers made important saves in a fairly even first half and Cleethorpes hit the bar after a wicked deflection, but the Millers were the better team in the second period and deserved their win and will feel themselves unlucky not to have had at least two penalties during the game.

Lewis Druro argued too vehemently after Niall Hylton appeared to be upended in the box and received a red card, which meant the Millers had to defend the latter part of the game with only ten men.

Defend it with ten men they did however and the 1-0 win means that Carlton move up to 6th in the table with a home game against Liversage to look forward to on Saturday, weather permitting once again.

With Josh Hodgson working and John Bryson away, Carlton Town Chairman Mick Garton took on media duties for the club and spoke to Mark Harvey and Niall Hylton in the boardroom following the 1-0 win.
