MILLERS WIN THE BIG BOXING DAY LOCAL DERBY AT GRANTHAM TOWN.

Grantham Town once again proved a happy hunting ground for the Millers as they won an entertaining Boxing Day Derby 3-2 at the South Kesteven Sports Ground.

Grantham themselves are having a tough season, but a local Derby always brings out another level in teams and the home side matched the Millers in the first half.
Man of the match Lamin Manneh scored a brilliant first goal for the visitors, before Matthew Doyle fired a fine equaliser into the roof of the net for the Gingerbreads.

Tommy and Mark felt the Millers were missing an opportunity and had a few strong words at half time and Carlton came out and took control of the game, Michael Ford fired home on 49 minutes, before Alex Hardwick (pictured) got back among the goals with a crucial 64th minute header. Although Carlton were now well on top, Grantham were still having their moments and when Bradley Munns scored from a deflected shot on 78, it meant a nervy last period for the Millers.

3-2 to Carlton however it remained and the Millers remain 7th in the table with 33 points from 17 games.

Attention now turns to a big Christmas/ New year clash this coming Friday at Stoke Lane when Grimsby Borough are the visitors to the Bill Stokeld Stadium 7.45pm. We will begin the build up to that in due course, but for now we can hear what joint Manager Mark Harvey thought of the Grantham victory as he caught up with the Chairman Mick Garton who was representing Carlton Town Tv for the club.
