MUSSA EARNS THE MILLERS A REPLAY IN THE FA CUP AS SEASON GETS UNDERWAY

After an excellent preseason, the real action started with Carlton facing a tough away encounter in the Fa Cup at Quorn.

The weather was shocking and it felt more like the middle of winter, than a Saturday afternoon in August, cold, windy and hammering down with rain throughout the whole day.

Quorn started the brighter, but it was Nangle who should have given the Millers the lead, putting his effort wide with the goal at his mercy.

Quorn were in the ascendancy however and a brilliant volley from Tyrel Shannon-Lewis gave the home side the lead, a brilliant save from Felix ensured the Millers went into half time only 1-0 down.

The second half was a different story and whatever Tommy, Darron and the crew said at half time certainly had the desired affect.

Carlton took the game to Quorn and dominated the second period, but the outstanding Charlie Woods brilliantly saved a Nangle penalty after the keeper had himself conceded the spot kick bringing down Lamin Manneh.

Despite the setback, Carton continued to press for the equaliser and Tommy made a number of changes and one of them proved pivotal with Mussa Jawara sweeping home the equaliser after good work by Lewis Douro and Lamin Manneh.

Special mention for Alex Howes who was at the heart of everything Carlton did well in the second half and he could have won the game for the Millers, but once again Charlie Woods was the hero for Quorn with two more fine saves following goal mouth scrambles.

The turnaround is quick indeed with the replay at Stoke Lane this coming Tuesday, season tickets are not applicable for this game with admission at £10 adults, £8 Concessions and £2 kids.

The club would obviously be grateful indeed of a Matchball sponsor and a Programme sponsor for the game ,if anyone could be kind enough to support, please contact Boatsy on 07907 064189.

Whoever wins the replay will be at home to Maltby Main or Pinchbeck United on Saturday 19th August, they also drew 1-1.
