NORTH DELIGHTED WITH SHEFFIELD WIN BUT CONCERNED ABOUT THE FUTURE AFTER SECOND LOCKDOWN ANNOUNCED!

Carlton Town Vice Chairman Barry North was delighted with Carlton’s 2-0 away win at Sheffield and said it was ironical that another lockdown as been announced just as Carlton finally get their injured players back.

North spoke to us following the Sheffield result and the announcement by Prime Minister Boris Johnson of another Lockdown and while he fully understands the dilemma the Prime Minster is faced with, he is concerned about the knock on effects for society in general and football clubs.

“We could not get to the game due to the restrictions, but when we saw the line up, it brought a smile to our face and it will be good to see competition for places again after the nightmare of injuries over the last few weeks”

“The second lockdown is going to prove a massive hit again for many football clubs including us, with beer going to waste, no functions or events at the ground and we await to see if our training facilities can be used”

“We will also have to see where we stand with the furlough scheme and wether there is any more help, we will certainly do all we can by making a real effort with the Christmas draw and if everyone else can do the same please, it really will help”

“I am not just concerned about our club, but with football in general, there will come a tipping point and I think the latest situation will sadly bring us closer to that”

“Our mental health as a family is certainly being affected by all of this and you wonder if and when it’s going to end”

“Our supporters have been brilliant throughout these awful times and it’s great to see our gates up, I think some of that is down to the big local clubs not having supporters in, but also due to the positivity at the club and in particular due to the excellent football played last season and the takings in the bar on Matchday and at the food bar with the newly sourced Sausages and Burgers are also up and we are getting great feedback”

“I think we would have been in for another decent gate next Saturday, we have the Juniors getting more involved, Match Ball Sponsors coming forward, but now another lockdown”

Barry, Jackie and Gary have been fantastic additions to the Carlton Town family and Barry finished by telling us who he will miss the most in the coming weeks.

“Cliff Richard, I was really looking forward to that, he was brilliant last year” concluded North.
