OLLIE ON THE MOVE BUT MANAGERS CONFIDENT ABOUT THE FUTURE!

Carlton Town have today agreed a deal with Basford United for the transfer of talented midfielder Oliver Clarke.

Clarke was out of contract at the end of the season and would not have been short of takers and now has the chance of playing at a higher level with the club’s Nottinghamshire neighbours.

Tommy and Mark are excited about youngsters coming through at Carlton Town and with this deal giving them first option on talent from Basford United not quite ready for step 3 football, the managers although disappointed to be losing the player, are confident of a bright future without him.

Credit should also go to Wayne Scott for one of the club’s best signings in recent years, a player who really shined last season.

In a joint statement Tommy and Mark told us “we are very sorry to lose Ollie as he’s been exemplary for us since we took over at Carlton both on and off the pitch. We both feel he has the potential to play higher and we are delighted he can achieve this with Basford as we see it as a good fit. We are both looking forward to having a strong ongoing relationship with Basford and only see it as beneficial for our club”

Basford Town Manager Steve Chettle commenting on the signing  said “Ollie is a highly talented player that we have been aware of since his breakthrough into the Carlton Town first team three seasons ago. He is high energy central midfield player that has an eye for a goal. His experience at playing in the very competitive Non-league format from an early age and flourishing at that level is something that is extremely important. He is the right fit for our football club and we look forward to what the future will bring for Ollie” concluded Chettle.

Basford have also agreed a sell on fee with Carlton should the player in the future move on, but for now his future lies at Greenwich Avenue and everybody at Carlton Town wishes him all the very best for the future.
