ONE LAST BRIAN FUNDRAISER SAY THE FAMILY WITH FUNERAL TO BE STREAMED LIVE!

The family of the much loved but sadly now late Brian Dennett have been in touch with the club and requested one last fund raiser in his name for the club he loved.

The family have requested that no flowers are sent for the funeral but that instead, a donation is made to a Just giving page set up in Brian’s name https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/briandennett-carltontownfc-1

The family were reluctant to put a figure on what could be raised but a target of £500 has been set and agreed on and the family know that is what Brian would have wanted after talking to him of his love for the club and his ongoing fundraising efforts, even as he was facing his final days, but still acutely aware of the fact the club had lost all of its income following yet another Lockdown.

The funeral of the club legend is to be held on Tuesday 23rd March at St Pauls church in Carlton at 12.30pm and this website understands that the car will drive into the ground, so Brian can have one last visit to Stoke Lane, only a very small number of club officials will be able to attend the funeral due to government Covid 19 restrictions, but close friend Phil Jennings is hoping some Carlton supporters can turn out at the ground to form a guard of honour, details regarding this and timings are to follow.

The family understand from conversations they have had with the club and the more general football family, that many more people want to attend but cannot due to the rule of 30 for funerals, one supporter told us, “it would be more like 330 if Boris were to allow it”

In view of this the family have also arranged for the funeral to be streamed live with the following link https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=QR7APEklmPM

The club will be holding their own memorial service and tribute event in May or June when restrictions are finally set to be lifted and City Couriers Direct have also announced they will be naming the Cup for the proposed forthcoming local tournament after Brian.

The club’s Academy Suite is also set to be renamed ” The Brian Dennett Academy Suite” and such is the way Brian was loved, AR Signs at Cotgrave have contacted the club and agreed to provide the signage free of charge, James from the company told us ” He was a lovely man , we were always happy to sponsor a Matchball for him and the club and of course we have our sign on the back of one of the dugouts due to Brian”

Brian may have passed, but his memory will long live on and his family are determined to ensure that Carlton Town is a major part of that with this final fundraising effort and the club’s response equally means that will indeed very much remain the case.

RIP BRIAN DENNETT
