PENALTY PAIN FOR MISFIRING MILLERS AT LINCOLN!

PENALTY PAIN FOR MISFIRING MILLERS AT LINCOLN!

Make no mistake, this is a game Carlton Town should have won, a hatful of chances missed , a bizarre own goal conceded to let Lincoln United back into the game and then more chances missed as the game drew to a conclusion.

Lincoln played their part in an entertaining game for the attendance of 196 , but Carlton controlled large parts of the encounter and their decent away following left Lincoln bitterly disappointed after the penalty shoot out defeat.

Given Carlton’s recently record in scoring penalties, it was no real surprise when they lost the shootout, but that was no reflection on goalkeeper Mike Emery who saved two and scored his own penalty.

Brad Wells pictured had given the Millers a deserved half time lead .

Arron O Connor, Tyler Johal and Mike scored their penalties but Niall Davey, Alex Howes and Lawrence Stuart all had theirs saved by the excellent Lincoln keeper Nykah Liiburb-Hines who had an outstanding afternoon.

Positives for the Millers were the performances of their midfield with Niall Davey appearing on his way back to his best after a nasty injury and the encouraging flair of Ryan Tait who was also guilty of missing a Fantastic chance late on , but generally he was at the heart of a lot of good Carlton Town moments. Bally and Dan Brown were excellent at the back and it was no surprise that Brown was the supporters man of the match.

Negatives were the on the Fininancai side with this competition the last the Millers could earn some vital funds to help with the huge increase in travel costs this season and any donations right now would be grateful received by the Millers.

It was not to be however and the Millers will need to regroup and move on and attempt to climb the table with a host of home games on the horizon.

There were enough Positives in this game to suggest brighter days are ahead, but for now the pain of a gut wrenching defeat is prominent, Tadcaster next Saturday can not come quickly enough!
