PLAYOFFS PLACES DECIDED AND MILLERS FINISH WITH ANOTHER WIN
Carlton Town started the season with an excellent away win in Bridlington and finished it with an excellent away win in Bishop Auckland, 2-1 the score line with goals from Lamin Manneh and Alex Howes (pictured).
Carlton finished the season 7th with 71 points from 42 games after winning their final 2 games of the season, but even if they had beaten Cleethorpes and Dunston in the previous two games, it would not have been enough to claim a play off spot without big wins as a hefty 77 points were needed to get that vital 5th spot.
It was Emley on 77 points who claimed that spot with Belper Town finishing 4th on 78 points, Stocksbridge third, also on 78 points and Dunston 2nd on 81 points.
Ironically Carlton had beaten both Stocksbridge and Belper away from home in recent weeks as part of their recent remarkable run.
The Millers will look back on last November as their achilles heal when they piccked up just one point from 5 league games and went out of the Nottinghamshire senior cup.
That month apart, it has been another excellent season for the Millers, particularly since the turn of the year, but they will now have to look on to see who wins from Dunston v Emley and Stocksbridge v Belper, before the final next Saturday.
In the MidLands league, Corby Town will take on Long Eaton United and Anstey Nomads will play Worcester City, while in the West Division Hednesford Town will play Vauxhall Motors and Congleton Town will play Chasetown Fc.
In the Premier Division Macclesfield won the league with an outstanding 109 points with Worksop Town second on 83 points, Stockton Town who of course beat the Millers in the playoffs last season and ultimately went up finished an excellent 3rd with Guiseley finishing 4th and Ashton United 5th.
Matlock Town, Mickleover, Basford United and Blyth Spartans were all relegated from the premier division.
The Millers will wait and see where they are placed next season, but current projections suggest they will be back in the Midland league, we will see !
