PLENTY STILL TO PLAY FOR AS MILLER’S SEASON GOES TO THE WIRE.
A late equaliser at Pontefract has made things facinating for the final day of the league season.
If Carlton beat Dunston on Saturday and Lincoln lose at Hebburn, The Millers will move above Lincoln to 4th bottom and as things stand be in the Relegation play offs.
If they lose and Shildon win at Grimsby Borough, Carlton will technically be relegated.
Carlton could also potentially end 3rd bottom and be in a playoff game, the position they hold going into the fixture.
The Elephant in the room of course is North Shields who have failed Ground Grading requirements for step 4 continuation, but have appealed.
If that appeal fails, one presumes it may rescue the team finishing 4th bottom from playing in the playoff game and put the team finishing second bottom in to the playoffs, which then gives that team a chance of staying up, who knows, we can only assume based on the limited information we have.
The only thing Carlton can try and do is win that game and then it’s in the lap of the gods as they say.
The other twist in the tale in that Dunston whom The Millers are playing need to win and hope that one of the three teams above them lose to allow them to jump into a playoff spot on goal difference, and that’s not straight forward either as Stocksbridge being one of the 3 teams have a narrow advantage on goal difference that could change, Long Eaton could then drop out of contention if they only draw and they are on two points ahead and Hebburn have a poor goal difference who like Stocksbridge are three points ahead of Dunston.
There is lots of other stuff going on around this game with former Forest Star George Lyall (pictured left with the Chairman and his son) the club’s very special pre Match guest.
Carlton Town Under 16s are also the club’s special guests after winning their Division last week and there is also the small matter of the all important Food Bank Collection, the Chairman on Radio Nottingham News on Saturday morning and Dan on the Decks and if that’s not enough, Gaz Bee will be launching the fund raising raffle for The Ukraine Charity event at the ground the following Sunday 30th April and we have the big 150 Club draw at around 5.30pm this Saturday as well of course.
A massive thankyou to all of the sponsors including Msr Newsgroup whom have got involved at the last minute to provide extra support for what is a significant day indeed.
