POST MATCH UPDATE FROM STOKE LANE FOLLOWING 3-2 YAXLEY DEFEAT!

While Carlton will be extremely disappointed not to have followed up their fine come back against Halesowen last week, going down 3-2 to Yaxley at Stoke Lane after leading 1-0 and dominating the early stages of the game, their biggest setback on the day for both the player and the club is the injury to Niall Davie.

Niall has had rotten luck in recent years with injuries and this latest setback to one of the most popular players at Stoke Lane is yet another blow with fractures to his fibula and metatarsal during the game against Yaxley.

While the thoughts of everyone at the club are with Niall this weekend, the Millers family were doing something kind for goalkeeper Mark Rathbone, who himself suffered a nasty injury last Saturday against Halesowen and £180 was collected during the game for him, while the club wait to find out if their insurance policy will help him while he is off work.

The £180 for ‘Rath’ comes on the back of £500 raised for food parcels for those fleeing Ukraine as the Russian bombs rain down on their homes. The Millers may not have the biggest family but it’s growing and has a big heart.

Carlton’s home defeat was only their second of the season, but due to the great form of those above them, leaves them now with an uphill battle to secure a playoff spot with the gap to Belper now 7 points.

Ilkeston, Halesowen and Chasetown now look to be in a three way battle for the title, all on 69 points and all having played 31 games.

Carlton will announce further details this week with regard to the Nottingham Forest Semi Final and would like to say a massive well done to friend of the club Leigh Wood.

Many Millers fans were at the Nottingham Arena supporting Leigh as he defended his world title on Saturday evening and his stunning finish, grit and determination throughout and indeed wonderful talent shone through and we are proud to have him as a friend, it was 24 hours earlier while preparing for the fight he was sending a message to the club at the fund raiser with John O Hare as money was raised from his signed glove for the Ukraine food parcels, the club salutes him.
