PRAISE FOR MILLERS DESPITE NARROW DEFEAT AND FIREWORK EXTRAVAGANZA CANCELLED DUE TO COVID 19!

Carlton Town were dealt a double blow in the last 24 hours with their exit from the Fa Cup becoming the first disappointment of the week although there were lots of positives to be taken from the game according to attending supporters.

Carlton had several key players missing including both their usual first pick centre forwards, but put in an impressive display and the general opinion seems to be that whoever got the first goal would win the game and sadly for the Millers that goal was scored By Banbury United in the 78th minute.

Praise for the Millers was not in short supply and they will hope to build on the performance when they travel to Spalding on Saturday and the coverage on Talk Sport as given everyone at the club a boost, in particular following Daryl Thomas’s excellent contribution on TalkSport Breakfast on Tuesday morning.

A big disappointment followed off the pitch with the club announcing this evening that they have cancelled their annual Fireworks Extravaganza planned towards the end of October, a massive fund raising event in the club’s annual calendar of events.

The club have already lost their Summer Speakers event, the pool marathon, the Golf Day , the annual Race day and were hoping their Fireworks  Extravaganza could go ahead with Covid secure measures in place.

Following last nights address to the nation by Prime Minster Boris Johnson, Carlton Chairman Mick Garton has reluctantly contacted Big Bang Fireworks and cancelled this years event following advice from Carlton’s Covid 19 advisers.

Carlton will now focus on trying to get as many supporters to their forthcoming home games as possible in order to provide  the vital income stream needed to meet their weekly outgoings, given the ongoing restrictions in place which will prevent many clubs from obtaining any additional income.

Carlton can at least still admit Supporters, although further restrictions will follow ahead of the next home games, while clubs at higher levels such as Mansfield Town and Notts County are stil allowed no supporters, a difficult winter lies ahead for many !
