PRESIDENT SENDS IN ANOTHER VERY SPECIAL PHOTO!

We saw reflections on social media today and our president Roger Smith has sent in a photo of what was part of possibly our best ever squad, this picture was taken at the start of the 2013-2014 campaign.

The team, a few of whom are in this photo, scored over 100 goals during the 2011-2012 season under Les Mcjannet and Mark Clarke and finished second in the league, before squandering a 2-0 lead in the playoff semi final, with only minutes to go, drawing 2-2 on a foul night weather wise at Stoke Lane.

The Millers then lost on penalties with Rob Darkin sadly missing the crucial spot kick late into the evening rain.

Leek then went onto to lose to Ilkeston in the playoff final and the question has been asked this season, could the team brilliantly managed by Tommy and Mark this time round have gone on and took the team to the next level, the managers certainly believed that in spades !

There was a genuine belief in the camp that the team would comfortably make the playoffs and then give it a real go, the final league table does not lie and Carlton’s recent results tell a fantastic story about a team on fire, just like the superb team managed by Les and Mark.
