RAILWAYMEN BACK AT STOKE LANE AND AWAY TRIP TO BASFORD!

Carlton Town are delighted to announce that Shildon AFC will once again be visiting Stoke Lane this summer after enjoying their afternoon when they last visited Stoke Lane with several thirsty customers in attendance. The game will take place on Saturday 31st July, the weekend after the much anticipated friendly with Merthyr Town Fc on Saturday 24th July. The millers are also hoping to arrange a home friendly on Saturday 7th August.

Joint managers Tommy Brookbanks and Mark Harvey will be looking forward to two cracking friendly games after several away games due to work being done on their pitch to bring it up to the best standard that can be afforded, due to the income from the 150 club, so successfully run by the Supporters club.

The away games currently arranged will be at Basford United on Thursday 8th July, at Radford Fc on Saturday 17th July and Staveley on Wednesday 21st July.

All teams who have put down a deposit for the end of season tournament will have their £50 returned in the coming days. With Covid deaths and infections falling dramatically, it was hoped the government would relax restrictions earlier to allow paying spectators to return to stadiums and allow clubs to bring in some much needed revenue, but it was not to be and there as been little enthusiasm for a pre season tournament after Chairman Dick Durant contacted all the clubs.

Merther Town Fc on the 24th July and AFC Shildon on the 31st July however should make for two cracking Saturday afternoons, hopefully in the sun.
