ROCKLEY BACK AS CLUB ANNOUNCE NEW PATHWAY FOR THE JUNIOR SECTION!

Carlton Town joint Manager Tommy Brookbanks met with Babs from the Junior section to further develop the relationship between the two sections of the club last week and following that meeting, it has been comfirmed that Paul Rockley (pictured) will be returning to the club to head up a new look Development team which will play next season as Carlton Town Reserves and create a pathway for some of the the club’s youngsters to have the opportunity in the future to play for the reserves and hopefully the first team.
The club’s youth policy has taken on even more significance going forward, partly due to the pandemic with finances for general running costs depleted and the club are certainly not in a position to purchase players and the club would obviously like to do as much of that development as possible from within, but it is also as a follow up to successful talks at the start of last season which have now been built on.
The club have moved quickly to put in a system going forward which will hopefully hold them in good stead for years to come and this includes the Club’s Academy whom Tommy watched win 3-2 yesterday in the first game on the Carlton Town pitch for months.
Babs as put out a statement about the new set up and is looking for people from the Carlton Town family to get involved.
Dear Members,

An exciting opportunity has arisen for our club! Carlton Town are restructuring the pathway programme, to come into effect for the ‪2021-22‬ season.

This new pathway programme will be a more connected arrangement between us, the 1st team, our BTEC Football Academy and the Reserves.

This restructure has meant that we are stripping it all back and starting the Reserves from scratch. There will be a brand-new management team that will work closely with the 1st team management, the Academy and our youth section each week.

The club have already appointed Paul Rockley as the Head Coach of the Reserves. Paul is a highly experienced UEFA B qualified coach and comes recommended from previously having worked with Tommy from the 1st team.

Sarah Tongue, has been appointed as the Admin who will take care of all the fixtures and necessary communications. Sarah comes from our current U18 and the BTEC Football Academy.

We are looking to recruit from within our club to make up the rest of the management team.

The Reserves will be taking applications for the following positions:

Assistant Head Coach
Goalkeeper Coach
General Coaches
Physio

This is an exciting opportunity for our club and for all of our coaches. The management team positions will be made available for the coaches within our club first and will be opened up outside of Carlton Town if there are positions that still need to be filled.

So, if there is anyone within the Carlton Town family (which includes recommendations from you), who would be interested in being involved in this pathway programme, please let me know.

Remember, we fund your coaching qualifications! Don’t feel that you are not qualified enough. If you are interested in progressing, our Coach Education Coordinator will arrange it for you.

How the pathway will work:

Carlton Town Reserves will be the starting point and act as the entrance into our 1st team and semi-professional football. Trials for players will begin once the management team has been finalised, date TBC. The age groups trialling will be from our U16 and above, including from our BTEC Football Academy. Again, the trials will be open for Carlton Town players only, and then open up outside the club at a later date.

Therefore, if you would like to be involved in the decision-making process and the development of our youth players into semi-professional players, please apply!
