SMASHING GESTURE FROM MILLERS FANS FOR YOUNG BOY AND NEWS UPDATE INCLUDING CHAIRMAN’S STATEMENT FROM WATERLOGGED STOKE LANE!

Carlton Town Supporters were so proud of the turnout for last weeks trip to Sheffield, they have had a whip round and paid for a half season ticket today for the son of Jason Simpkins pictured at Sheffield last week.

Chairman Mick Garton fronted up following criticism of the club’s pitch on social media today from in particular former Carlton player Reice Bertram and the fact the Senior Cup tie had been played the other night.

“Bingham Town have no floodlights so the game had to be played at Stoke Lane, we looked at 4g options and I myself spoke to Long Eaton United, but those pitches are used as revenue streams for the clubs that have them and do not sit idle waiting for a call from me”

“We were proactive in attempting to get the game played as the game is a priority in terms of Fa protocol and they at the end of the day are the governing body”

“I spoke to Tommy in the week and I know for a fact, we were well up for the Belper game and with Forest being away and the sun being out, we could well have had our biggest gate of the season today, which will not be repeated for a rearranged midweek fixture sadly”

“To protect the pitch, we cancelled a major long standing Charity game which is an important part of our community responsibility and commitment and which we didn’t want to do and have moved our next two Academy games to Long Eaton, which requires us obviously to pay for the pitch and travel for our young players”

“We called in drainage experts last week as it is one part of the pitch that is causing the main problem and Jamie was given the go ahead to get extra help to prepare the pitch, the water level is what it is, as is our location next to the River Trent and we are doing everything we can so it’s disappointing to be slated on social media”

“We are launching a major fund to spend money on the infrastructure including the pitch, because unfortunately neither myself Roger or Barry have the personal wealth to pay for everything ourselves and we have not been able to get any funding like other clubs because of the way our lease is structured, we have to raise every penny ourselves and always have, we do our very best and all continue to volunteer and contribute financially what we can afford to, trust me” concluded the Chairman.

Carlton Town Tv called in at the ground today as the players trained on the 3G five a side pitches and Josh Hodgson caught up with Mark Harvey and Ollie Robinson following Wednesday’s 2-1 win over Bingham Town, watch out for the interviews in the coming days.

The club are expected to announce the date of their new fund launch shortly, which will take place at the Dragon after Jackie North was formally welcomed onto the club’s board today by the Executive committee who met at Stoke Lane, Jackie takes up the role of Vice President.

The club will also announce details of this years first race day shortly after the Chairman secured sponsorship this week.

Finally after the game was called off, the players showed support for another of their sponsors Castle Rock by retiring to the Bread and Bitter for a pint or two and this website understands Alan Murphy is on the decks tonight!

Carlton are scheduled to play at home again this coming Wednesday against Loughborough Dynamo and will do everything they can to hopefully ensure the game goes ahead.
